Emergency Veterinarian (Full Time / Part Time / Relief)


We are actively seeking veterinarians interested in full time / part time/ or relief work in our afterhours ER facility. All resumes / experience will be considered. The Northwest PA Pet Emergency Center (NWPAPEC) is a privately-owned after-hours emergency and critical care practice in Erie PA. We provide afterhours emergency and critical care for 80+ veterinarians (40+ practices) throughout the region of Northwest PA, Northeast Ohio, and Southwestern New York.


We strive to provide the highest quality patient care and are equipped with electronic medical records (Infinity/Impromed), digital radiography (radiology consults through PetRays), ultrasound, complete in-house lab (Abaxis), and surgical suite complete with monitoring (SpO2, BP, Capnography, ECG, etc.) and anesthetic ventilator. 


Cases vary from the most basic emergencies to complex medical and surgical cases and our veterinarians routinely perform surgical procedures such as exploratory laparotomy, C-Section, GDV, splenectomy, and enucleation. 


We are very supportive of continual learning and training of both our veterinarians and support staff. We regularly attend VECCS conferences, provide generous CE allowances to veterinarians and technical staff, and provide VIN access. Many of our technicians are CVTs or currently in training to become CVTs. 


Our full-time veterinarians typically work 12-14 12 hour shifts per month and we strive to accommodate scheduling and time off requests.


Erie, PA is home to Presque Isle along Lake Erie as well as many other lakes and parks including the National Forest. The area is abundant with numerous outdoor activities and is located 2 hours north of Pittsburgh, 2 hours east of Cleveland, and 1.5 hours southwest of Buffalo.


The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, a positive attitude, good medical and surgical skills, and a willingness to continue to learn. Prior emergency practice experience or completion of a rotating internship is preferred but new graduates with an interest in emergency medicine and surgery are encouraged to apply.


Mentoring and assistance with surgeries or detailed cases are available as needed.


Part Time / Full Time Veterinary Technician / Assistant


The NW Pennsylvania Pet Emergency Center (NWPAPEC) is a small, privately owned emergency practice located in Erie, Pennsylvania. We are in search of an energetic, friendly, self-motivated team player that can multitask. Ideally the candidate will have prior experience in a veterinary hospital and have good communication skills. Compassion is a must. Evenings, weekends, and holidays are the operating hours of our hospital, and in turn, are a requirement of employment. All resumes and experience will be considered.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Triaging and obtain patient history
  • Excellent patient care including diagnostic procedures and treatments
  • Phlebotomy
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Maintains hospital for day-to-day functions (cleaning, stocking, etc.)
  • Performs radiography
  • Compassionate handling of patients
  • Assisting with surgical procedures 


Client Service Representative


We are in search of a client service representative to join our team. You are the first person a client sees when they walk through our doors, so a smiling face and a pleasant personality are a must. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Greet and check in patients
  • Triage patients
  • Request help
  • Answer phone calls
  • Check out patients 
  • Financial discussions (review estimates, collect payment, and review options)
  • Keep reception area clean and orderly
  • Prepare prescriptions and discharges per doctor's orders
